Course Length – Half Day

Course Description

This course gives an understanding of the Canadian Hours of Service regulations that limit the number of hours drivers can operate commercial vehicles.  The course will review the basic Canadian Hours-of-Service rules and what records are required for drivers and carriers alike.

This half-day training session will review:

  • Canadian Hours-of-Service rules including Daily, Workshift and Cycle limits.
  • Canadian Electronic Logging Device (ELD) requirements
  • Local (160km) exemptions and record keeping requirements

Why this is important

Every driver of every commercial vehicle in Ontario must comply with rules that restrict when and how long a driver can continue to drive that vehicle. Drivers that operate within a radius of 160 km have some exemptions for the requirement to keep a logbook but they must still comply with the rules. Records must also be kept by the employer for every driver.

Course is Suitable for

Drivers, managers, trainers and operations personnel will understand the rules and will learn about the behaviors and systems that must be in place to stay compliant.
